Below a brief presentation of my career related to seagoing vessels. Considering below, we can discuss how I can be of any value to assist in relation to your activities.
For nearly 14 years I've been surveying seagoing vessels for Lloyd's Register, a well-known Classification Society (IACS member), mainly in Antwerp and other Belgian Ports. My duty was to perform:
-Class related surveys (Hull and Machinery)
-Statutory surveys (SOLAS, MARPOL, LOADLINE, SAFCON, LIFTING, ....)
-Follow up of Port State Detentions
Previously I was employed at Fina Antwerp Olefins (currently part of Total) for approximately 10 years. Duties were Loading Master for vessels for sea and Inland waterways, trucks, railciterns and storagetanks. Later I became Technical inspector. As an inspector I was responsable for the condition of the storage tanks, pipelines, petrochemical reactors, destilation towers, heat exchangers, shut downs, etc...
In the 90's I was employed pas a marine engineer officer, working mainly onboard of Chemical Carriers, fully refrigerated and semi refrigerated Gas Carriers (CMB, EXMAR, CANMAR EUROPE, SOMBEKE, OSCAR GAS, POLAR BELGICA, POLAR DISCOVERY, VESALIUS, FLANDERS HARMONY).
Next to my job in the engine room as an engineer, one of my specialities was to perform the job af gasengineer, responsible for the coolingdown (upto -104°C), loading and discharging of the cargo including operation of inert gas plants and the maintenance of all cargo equipment.
All started at Antwerp Maritime Academy.
